Production Manager, BBC Sport

The successful candidate will be scheduled onto titles within the BBC Sport portfolio and professionally manage these events from preparation for green light through to delivery using specialist production management skills, knowledge and experience, reporting to either a Head of Production or Production Executive.

You will work collaboratively within the production management team and in partnership with editorial colleagues to deliver the outstanding, distinctive, multi-platform content that BBC Sport is renowned for, by providing the ways to realise editorial ambitions within operational and financial constraints.

The role will bring effective leadership to production management staff on the production(s) and play a key role in maintaining a professional pan-BBC production management community.

Operations Executive, (Technical Manager), BBC Sport

The primary purpose of the role is to be accountable for elements of the technical delivery of BBC Sport broadcast operations. This ranges from assisting production with advanced planning and contracting of large and complex OB’s with multiple contractors, through to small low cost very simple operations. The role will be expected to be both focused on supplier management on larger events through to being hands on with the delivery on smaller events and locations. The role will work with a senior colleague and this small team will cover all our output for TV, online / digital and radio as needed.  The successful candidate will principally be Media City based but will be required to work around the country and abroad, for sometimes significant durations during events. They will need to be able to specify facilities to support the operations required, to meet the editorial and production brief and to balance the costs against functionality and resilience, whilst managing the requirements with colleagues from production and production management. 

Lead Technical Operator, BBC Sport

The primary purpose of the role is to support the BBC Sport Technical Team leads in the strategic development and delivery of its technology and infrastructure, working collaboratively to ensure knowledge & information is shared across the teams. This ranges from assisting production with workflow design, advanced planning and contracting of complex OB’s with multiple contractors, through to small low cost very simple operations. The role will work with senior colleagues and will have a specific focus on radio and sport news output, as well as other video based productions as needed.  The successful candidate will principally be Media City based but will be required to work around the country and abroad, for sometimes significant durations during events.

Assistant Editor
(5live Sport)

The Assistant Editor works with the Editor, Radio Sport, Assistant Editors and programme teams to oversee the day-to-day output of 5 Live Sport. 

The successful candidate will lead a range of production teams and broadcasters, editing and producing output from the studio and Outside Broadcasts to the highest standards and agreed budgets and schedules.

Provide editorial direction and creative drive to all 5 Live sport content.

Provide strong editorial leadership with the ability to offer guidance and advice.

Establish and oversee a defined culture and values programme for 5 Live Sport, with diversity and inclusion at its heart, and provide regular personal support to team members when required

Editorial overview of team scheduling – ensuring growth and development are considered while constantly reviewing staffing needs
